Documentation

Meridian is a small collector that reads application logs, turns each line into a structured event, and forwards it to the storage backend you already operate. It runs as a single static binary and keeps no state beyond a local spool directory.

Getting started Requirements, installation and a first working configuration. Configuration reference Every option, its default and the values it accepts. FAQ Retries, spool limits, upgrades and the usual operational questions.

How it fits

Meridian deliberately does very little. It does not index, query or visualise anything — that stays with the backend. Its job is to survive restarts, keep ordering within a stream, and apply backpressure without dropping events when a destination is briefly unavailable.

ComponentResponsibility
ReaderTails files or reads from stdin, splits records, stamps arrival time.
ParserApplies the configured format (JSON, logfmt, regex) and emits a flat event.
SpoolAppends accepted events to disk so a restart does not lose them.
SenderBatches events, retries with backoff, honours rate limits from the backend.
